Down the lane, a small self-con stood by the side of the road, it's interior beautiful and attractive. Ekaete stood by the window pane giggling softly as she stared at her phone. Silly Busola she thought, did she think a text message was enough to keep her away from Samson?. She hissed bitterly and turned to look at Maami who had her left eyebrow raised in question.
"Why do you seem so agitated today. You came to see me. Yet you look like you are about to fight a lion. What's up.
Ekaete grinned viciously and tossed her weave-in behind her back, the blood red painted nails glittering dangerously in the sunlight
"It's Busola. I told you about her husband. I stayed with them last summer. Remember when I said I fell like a pack of cards for a man last summer. It's his wife- she actually sent me a text saying I should stay away from him. The nerve. She hasn't seen anything yet. I'm still not sure made me fall for him you know". She twirled her hair around her finger now albeit very lightly. "His good looks, his wealth. And a very attentive man. He's not like men this days that bother to listen you when you are talking. He listens to you and stares at you- it feels Like you are the only one in the world with him. How can you not fall for a man like that and did i mention, he's really wealthy too. Maami face palmed herself.
"Yes you already mentioned that he's wealthy. But Ekaete, the man is married. Aren't you scared of God's wrath on you for having this kind of though about a married man. At least think of his wife.
"Please don't preach to me today. I'm only here because Michael said there was something he gave you to keep for me. I'm not the first girl to have feelings for a married man. And I'm not going to be the last". She rolled her eyes and picked up her bag. " infact I'm going. Miss goody- to- shoes."
She left the room, her heels clashing against the tiled room and banged the door violently.
Maami sighed. "God help you"
Back at home, Busola had stopped pacing. Instead she took to reading the bible. The words of God has soothed her turmoils had reduced a little. The children were having their lesson. Her phone rang, the ringing tone echoing around the room. She frowned a little then picked up the phone
"Hei Busola you don't know how to call your friend ba". The husky voice on the other end of the line said, faux anger mixed with amusement coloured her voice.
Busola grinned, her left palm cupping her cheek
"You and your flair for the dramatic. Didn't i just call you last week before you travelled. How was your trip Bu the way
"It was fine. I got back yesterday. I will come by when the weekend rolls in. You sound tired. Are you okay.
Busola cursed herself and sighed. So much for trying to be convincing she thought
"It's Samson. I sent him a text after i saw his chat with ekaete. I'm only worried about his reaction
"Well I'm glad you finally did something about it. You know i warned you about that girl. Her intentions really seemed iffy to me.
Busola stretched her legs as she adjusted herself on the bed. " I know. I just wanted to be Nice you know. She seemed really harmless".
"The problem with you is that you are too gullible".The voice muttered.
"Anyway tell me how it goes later okay. I will be praying for you. God bless you. "
"Thanks. Bye ". She disconnected the call and laid gingerly on the bed.

The dangling of the car keys and the light thump on the tiled floor woke her up. He was here she thought.
She sat on the bed, wringing her hands softly. Samson stride into the room was a bit slow. He felt the presence of his wife even before he saw her bundled up in the blanket.
"You are back" she said softly. Her eyes darting over him.
"Yes Busola. I'm back. " he sighed and dropped his work bag on the floor and moved towards the bed.
His anger and shock at seeing the text had fizzled Into a light buzz. He knew that the his wife had a reason for sending the text but he wanted to hear it himself.
"Can we talk about it? " he asked her, waiting patiently.
"I saw the text conversation between you and Ekaete and I did what was best to me. I know that things has been tensed between us since the miscarriage, and I pushed you away. You have to know that" - she gripped his arm now -" that I didn't intend to push you away. I was grieving but the truth is I didn't realise that you were too. I acted selfishly and I just turned to praying without realising that i was hurting you too.". She sighed softly.
Samson smiled and caressed her eyebrows "I'm sorry for not trying my best to be bring you out of your shell of depression its my responsibility to cheer you up and i didn't. I met ekaete at the mall when i went shopping and we just started communicating from there. I didn't think anything of it. It just felt good to have somebody to talk to. I'm sorry for ignoring you .
" I guess we both have something to be sorry about ". There was a small silence until she said shyly
"should I bring your food?"
